Treasures of the McDonald Collection

We’ve added a bonus article in this month’s issue because we were so excited to learn about the online Mary McDonald collection from Oregon State University. Enjoy!

Welcome to the online exhibit of the Mary McDonald Rare Book and Manuscript Collection! Housed at Oregon State University, this site allows you to take a virtual tour of, naturally, a collection of rare books and manuscripts.

When you arrive at the site, you’ll find introductory text on the main page that will tell you about the collection, and then on the left side menu, you’ll find navigation. I suggest starting by clicking Introduction so you can learn all about Mary McDonald, her connection with Oregon Agricultural College, and the McDonald Room.

Or you can get started by visiting whichever section strikes your fancy. Pay attention to the links at the top of the page that loads, because they offer you links to more information within that category section.

As you browse, be on the lookout for thumbnails throughout the exhibit. When you click on an image, you’ll be whisked to the item in the image’s page, and from there, you can click again to make the image full size. There’s a lot of really great pieces here, and it’s nice to be able to see them in such detail.

Go check out the McDonald Collection today!
